What would it cost each month?

Adjust your token volume to compare standard API costs. Prices and catalog entries are an October 2026 snapshot.

Monthly estimate = input millions × input price + output millions × output price. Excludes caching, batch discounts, infrastructure, and taxes.

Understanding API pricing

Which LLM API is cheapest in 2026?

By input price per 1M tokens, the cheapest models in the table above are Llama 4 Scout ($0.08 in / $0.30 out), DeepSeek V4 Flash ($0.09 in / $0.18 out), Claude Haiku 5.5 ($0.10 in / $0.50 out). The cheapest closed-weight API is Claude Haiku 5.5 at $0.10 input. The lowest output rate is DeepSeek V4 Flash at $0.18. Open-weight model prices come from third-party hosts and vary by provider. A low per-token rate is not always the cheapest task: check output price and how many tokens the model needs.

Do any AI models offer a free API tier in 2026?

Yes. Several models including Llama 4, Gemini 2.5 Flash, and Qwen3 offer free rate-limited API access. See the free models directory at /free-models for the full list with usage limits.

What is batch API pricing and how much can it save?

Batch API pricing is an asynchronous processing mode offered by Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google at 50% off standard rates. It is suitable for offline jobs such as embeddings, classification, and bulk summarization where results are not needed in real time.

How much does prompt caching reduce AI model costs?

Cache hits on most Claude models cost 10% of the standard input rate, 5% on Claude Opus 5.5 and 2.5% on Claude Fable 5.1, per Anthropic's pricing page. OpenAI lists cached input at 10% of the input rate for GPT-6 Astra, Sol and Luna. For workloads with long repeated system prompts or documents, real costs can be 80 to 90% lower than the calculator's base estimate.
